Apparently The PsyCop series by Jordan Castillo Price is highly successful with Goodreads readers, coming in at an average 4.14 stars. Personally, I wasn't that bowled over, expecting a little bit more, to be frank. The suspense subplot was ok, not the best one I've ever read, but nicely spruced up thanks to an alternate reality where psychic cops are well integrated in the police system.
The developing relationship between the psychic cop, Victor, and the stiff (ergo non psychic) counterpart Jacob is just in the beginning, but promises to progress nicely. All in all I neither could really connect with the characters (maybe also because Victor is a drug addict, taking strong aids to suppress his paranormal ability) nor with the author's writing style. Should I run out of reading material I might try the second installment, but only if there's a sale. C-
