The Education of Caroline - Jane Harvey-Berrick Nice, really nice, even though it took me ages to read both books. I immediately loved Harvey-Berrick's writing style, suffered and laughed with Caroline and Sebastian and generally had a really good time reading their story. In the second novel the reader gets some pretty interesting insight on the job of a war journalist. No idea whether the author wrote from personal experience or “just” researched the topic thoroughly, but the whole scenario felt highly realistic and conveyed the danger Nice, really nice, even though it took me ages to read both books. What was kind of disappointing after their re-acquaintance was the fact that although Caroline achieved professional success she kind of stayed in limbo the last ten years where her sexuality was concerned. Of course, Sebastian sowed his wild oats but Caroline had to live more or less the life of a nun. Especially in this setting and regarding her past, I would have loved for her to also have some nice affairs or a solid relationship. B
